In June and July, Ms. Svenja Nachtigal’s second-grade class enjoyed a very special highlight: Together with an elementary school in Aspley Guise, England, the students worked on a creative summer project that perfectly captures the excitement leading up to summer vacation.
Working in small teams, the children createdpop-up picture books in rhyme that brought their summer vacation dreams to life. Through video calls, they chatted with their English partner students, shared what they were most looking forward to during the vacation, and proudly presented their first drafts.
What was particularly exciting: Both classes created little games for their partner class and watched with curiosity as the other class made progress. The result was a collection of colorful, creativesummer pop-up books that not only spark the imagination but also symbolize international friendship.
You can see some of these lovingly designed little books in the pictures—they’re sure to bring a little summer vacation vibe to our website right now!
